steam can be a bit ropey with setting the launcher up, it doesnt always download the necessary initial files. if people get stuck with this issue go on the lotro site, then download the launcher on there. this will fix any files steam missed first time round, once the launcher is fixed you can cancel the lotro download and just continue with the "fixed" steam game.

Hello, I've played F2P some-what time ago and I remembered there was a high and low resolution download and after looking on the site there still is (for PC atleast). I'm downloading now from Steam and I wonder what version does steam have for download? The high, or low resolution? I'm quite new to Lotro, actually I haven't played it for more than 1,5 hours I think. 1) Download the .zip file. 2) Extract the CombatAnalysis folder from inside the .zip file into your LOTRO "Plugins" directory: "(My) Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins" (you may need to create this folder if it doesn't already exist, which has to be called Plugins with a capital "P"). some of the files are big. time depends on your cpu, disk speed. control/alt/delete and bring up task manager. then performance tab. at bottom click on open resource monitor. Double click on it and it will open a finder window with instructions to drag the file "The Lord of the Rings Online(tm).app" to the adjacent Applications Folder. which grabs its data from Akamai.
